Don't pity me

Don’t pity me.

When you see that I am blind.

But pity those who can see with their eyes,

Pity those who are blind to their surrounding, their path,

Their future, their present, their past,

 They are blinded by lies.

Pity them.

Don’t pity me.

When you hear that I am deaf.

But pity those who can hear with their ears,

Pity those who cannot hear Mother Nature’s song,

Their words, their story, their poem.

They are deafened by their fears.

Pity them.

Don’t pity me.

When you walk to my wheelchair,

But pity those who are free to walk the world will not,

Pity those who are planted on the dark rock,

Unable to move, to reach, to grab, to go.

They are paralyzed with shock- they’re shot.

Pity them.

Don’t pity me.

When you speak to me.

But pity those who can speak but have no voice,

Pity those who have no say, no tongue, no words,

Their voices have been snatched by the people,

They won’t fight back with a stick of a sword.

Pity them.

Don’t pity me.

Don’t feel my sorrow.

But pity those who can feel but have no hearts,

Pity those who can’t sense, can’t love, can’t pity,

Their hearts have been shredded to parts.

Pity them.

Don’t pity me.

As you stand above my grave.

But pity those who are alive but not living,

Who are still in pain, who can feel, can hear,

Can see, can mourn, can cry, who are still grieving,

They can’t- won’t let go, they’ve stopped believing.

Pity them.

Don’t pity me.

You have work to do.

Help them to see- show them the world.

Help them to hear- the sounds of our home.

Help them to walk- step by step.

Help them to talk- spread their word.

Help them to feel- teach them to love.

Help them- remind them how to live again.

Help them.

Don't pity those who can't see but those who don't want to see...
This poem is a bit more on the spiritual side than to the rhyming side, hope you like it and feedback is appreciated!

Wow! This is wonderful! Poetry doesn't need to rhyme to have cadence.
Beautifully done!
